Flash Player 9 on Linux (Ubuntu)

First sign of life for a real Flash Player 9 coming to Linux (and not a trick the website into thinking you have v9 hack):

I think Stephen helped spur a reaction via his post here. It was interesting to see a response from John Dowdell that said “If it’s of any help I can testify that I see a pro-Linux, pro-portability sentiment within Macromedia and Adobe, even though there isn’t a clear business model for such work.”

Well… I offer my advisory services to help John find the business model and business case for such investment – no charge. In fact – the business model is likely no different than Adobe’s current business model – unless you’re considering an open source model … which I’m not so sure you need. It’s the business case for supporting a third platform that I think John was referring to. And I can offer some advice there too… but I don’t think it’s the straightforward advice or “business as usual” you might expect.

Feel free to contact me John even just for a quick chat/discussion – email at michaeldolan.com.
