Even if it doesn&#039;t see the light of day, it certainly has been quite a distraction - whether due to ineptitude when dealing with a real standards body (Microsoft&#039;s other office &quot;standards&quot; are mainly de facto) or malice (assuming many won&#039;t bother to read a 6,000+ page spec), or anything in between, the end result is much the same: the community is having to spend otherwise worthwhile effort fighting battles that it shouldn&#039;t need to.</description>
