WordPress 2.5 – wow – How is this not 3.0?

I can’t believe the upgrades crammed into WordPress 2.5. In fact I think it would have been worthy of a 3.0 designation given the media integration features. Here are a couple things I’ve noticed in my first 5 minutes.

1. First, the upgrade was as smooth as you could possibly imagine – not a single issue (and I even forgot to disable my plugins!).
2. Second, the admin interface has gone through significant overhauls and I like it. You can easily add media (pictures, videos, audio) to your post as you’re authoring the post. This is so much easier than before.
3. The visual editor has huge changes including the ability to paste from Word, add embedded media, and insert unique characters.
4. There’s a media library for all your media uploads (although it doesn’t have an option to upload independent of adding it in a blog post)

Finally, the layout of the admin interface is just cleaner – no other way to describe it. If you haven’t upgrading, it’s a good time to do so. If you’re not using WordPress… well… I can only ask why not?
